December 2023

Greetings in Jesus’ name, and welcome to the m

onth of giving!

This is the time of year when we turn our attention to the birth of our savior,

the Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus is the “Prince of Peace,” and God bestows peace upon his people, as in the Psalms.

Psalms 9:9-10: “The Lord is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble. Those who know your name trust in you, for you, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek you.”

As we celebrate the Lord’s birthday this month with renewed hope and peace in our hearts, we also want to embrace one another with peace and joy.

December’s Birthdays & Anniversaries

Happy Birthday to all of our members and friends who are blessed enough to be born during this beautiful time of giving. And happy anniversary to all celebrating this month. We pray for God’s continued blessings and happiness on these special occasions for many more years to come.

Happy birthday and anniversary  to you all!

Christian Education

God gives his best gifts to us in unexpected ways. The Christmas season is a reminder of the gift that God gives to us through his son Jesus. Please join us Sunday mornings at 9:30 a.m. for our Sunday Biblical teaching in the sanctuary for all ages. Our lesson this month is “The Unexpected” by Jason Turner.

We will continue our Tuesday Bible study this month titled “Unashamed” by Lecrae at 11:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. We hope to see you here.

Teaching young people how to grow in their relationship with Christ and thrive in their daily lives will help them mature and become adults who are confident in their faith.

Parents, our SBWC Youth Ministry is in session every Tuesday at 6 p.m. Please contact Sister Alice Reid for more information.

Senior Social

Being socially involved and active gives people a sense of belonging that provides added health benefits. Staying socially active is especially important for adults, who can sometimes become lonely and isolated. It can also improve emotional, intellectual, and physical wellness.

The senior adult ministry meets on the 3rd Wednesday of every month from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., which will be on December 20th. So please mark your calendars so that you can take part in some great activities and fellowship.

Women’s Ministry

The Women’s ministry will meet on Saturday, December 16th, at 11:30 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall. All ladies, 18 and up, are invited to attend. Please see the sign-up sheet in the foyer for our potluck lunch. And all women who want to take part in the Secret Santa drawing, please see Lady Garner after service today.

Holiday Office Schedule

Due to the holiday season, the church office will be closed for business from December 24th through January 2nd.

Tithe & Offering

The main principle behind tithing and giving is the fact that what we do with our money shows where our heart is.  The tithe is the Lord’s way of asking us to show our love. Giving God a percentage of our earnings shows that we put our love for him before our need for money.

There are several ways to give:

  1. online at sbw.center,
  2. Text SBWC and the gift amount to 73256.
  3. Givelify App, the church drop slot
  4. or by mail to 414 Silver Road, 34472.

God loves a cheerful giver.

Can Good Collection Drive

Hunger is a health issue, and it’s the reason why people struggling with food insecurity need help with healthy food. Beginning this month, I am asking the family and friends of Shores Baptist to donate five canned goods a month to help offset the cost of feeding our community.

Our goal is to collect 6,000 canned goods this year.

What types of items are needed? I’m glad you asked.

Fruits: canned fruit (in its own juice), dried fruit, 100% fruit juice. Canned vegetables, 100% vegetable juice, spaghetti sauce Rice, pasta, crackers, ready-to-eat cereal, and oatmeal Canned meat or poultry, canned tuna or salmon, canned or dried beans and peas, peanut butter beef stew, canned soup, and chili.

To Donate:

Drop your items off in the boxes in the foyer weekly or monthly, and they will be counted.

A weekly total will be shared with the congregation so that we will know if we are meeting our monthly goal of 500 can goods.

So SBWC, I hope you are pumped up and ready to serve, because the time has now come that we are being called upon !

God bless you.

On behalf of Pastor Garner and the SBWC family, we would like to thank you for worshipping with us today.

And, if you are watching via YouTube or Facebook, please help spread the gospel by subscribing to, liking, and sharing this video with your friends and family.

Have a blessed day in the Lord!
