Hello SBWC family and friends. Here are the latest happenings at SBWC.
April’s Birthdays & Anniversaries
Happy Birthday to all of our members and friends who are blessed enough to be born during this wonderful month as we celebrate this beautiful time of reconciliation! And happy anniversary to all celebrating this month. We pray for God’s continued blessings and happiness on these special occasions for many more years to come.
Happy Birthday and Happy Anniversary to you all!
Christian Education
Please join us Sunday mornings at 9:30am for our Sunday Biblical teaching in the sanctuary for all adults. Our teaching this month is “The Good Shepherd.”
In John 10, Jesus famously called himself the Good Shepherd, inviting us into a life of flourishing when we follow him. Join speaker Heather Thompson Day as she explores the way Jesus modeled the qualities of a good shepherd, showing us what it means to shepherd others in grace and truth.
Parents, please remember that youth Sunday school for ages 8-13 is held at 9:30am in the Educational Building. Please see Sister Alice Reid for more information.
Our weekday Biblical teaching is held every Tuesday at 11:00am and 6:00pm. This month our teaching is titled “Easter.”
Forty Days of Fasting & Prayer
We encourage our SBWC family and friends to stay strong during your forty-day fast until 6:00am on Easter Sunday.
Here are some encouraging words to remind us why we should pray and fast:
- Prayer and Scripture: Make prayer and scripture reading a central part of your day.
- Seek God’s Guidance: Pray for wisdom and guidance and listen for God’s voice in your heart.
- Remember God’s Promises: Reflect on God’s faithfulness and promises, which can provide comfort and encouragement.
- Confess and Repent: Use this time to examine your heart and confess any areas where you need to turn to God.
- Seek God’s Presence: Create space for God to speak and for you to listen, perhaps through journaling or meditation.
Friday Night Live (FNL)
We will gather in the sanctuary this coming Friday, April 11th, at 6:30pm, for a family-friendly, fun-filled evening of prayer, worship, dance, and a skit (written by Sister Milynthia Solomon). So please mark your calendar for Friday, April 11th, at 6:30pm.
Women’s Ministry
The Women’s Ministry will meet Saturday, April 19th, at 11:00am for our Easter celebration of our risen Savior. We invite all SBWC ladies to come and experience the move of the Holy Spirit through worship, praise dance, and drama. All ladies 17 and up are invited to attend. Please see Sister Hariette Hayden for more information about this ministry.
The WOW ministry will be placing an order for new polo shirts. If you are interested in purchasing one for $17.00, please see Sister Claudia Owen today after morning worship.
Easter Service
Please note that the Easter worship service will begin at 10:00 am on April 20th!, followed by a light fellowship after morning worship. Again, in-person and online Easter service will begin at 10:00am on April 20th! If possible, Pastor is requesting us to dress in purple or white attire.
Great Day of Giving
2 Corinthians 9:6-7 encourages giving “not reluctantly or under compulsion, because God loves a cheerful giver.” The Great Day of Giving sacrificial offering will be collected on April 20th, Easter Sunday. Envelopes for this special offering are available today. Please see the ushers prior to leaving the sanctuary for your envelope. Remember, you can never outgive God! He sees your sacrificial generosity and pours back many blessings into your life.
1000 Can Challenge
Did you know that over 47 million Americans face hunger each and every day including 1 in 5 children? For households that are often forced to choose between eating and paying the utility bills, every dollar counts.
SBWC, I am asking you to prepare your hearts to make a one-day donation on May 31st of at least one case of canned goods/nonperishables at our 1000 Can Good Challenge Drive. Spread the word to your neighbors and friends.
Tithe & Offering
Tithing can have a powerful impact on your walk with Jesus – by giving away a portion of your income, you’re putting your trust in God and stretching your faith.
“Remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He Himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’” (Acts 20:35).
There are several ways to give:
- SBWC’s mobile app,
- text SBWC414
- gift amount to 888-364-4483;
- church drop slot;
- or by mail to 414 Silver Road, 34472
Remember, God loves a cheerful giver.
That concludes this week’s announcements.
On behalf of Pastor Garner and the SBWC family, we would like to thank you so much for worshipping with us. And as a little reminder, if you are watching via SBWC’s mobile App, YouTube or Facebook, please help spread the gospel by subscribing to, liking, and sharing this video with your friends and family.
God bless you!
